| I am new to this site and am looking for some advice on which rangefinder to buy. The models I'm debating between are the Bushnell Yardage Pro 450, the Nikon ProStaff Laser 440, the Bushnell Yardage Pro Trophy and the Cabela's CLR 800 (made by Bushnell). My budget requires me keep the rangefinder at or below $225. It will be used primarily for bowhunting for Whitetails in timber from a treestand but will also be used for rifle hunting in timber and possibly a trip out West for elk. Any advice on these four models or suggstions on other models would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

The 440 is overall my favorite rangefinder and the best buy out there at $180.00. This will serve you well for 95% of all whitetail hunting. You might need more range for speedgoats or elk or caribou, and then you can go up to the Nikon 600 for a few more bucks. I haven't played with a Cabela's unit but I'm sure it's fine. I prefer to press a button and get a number and I want the unit small and simple. I like the Nikon 440 very much. _________________ Aim Hard!

| Thanks for the response! How does the Leupold RX-II compare to the Nikon 440? I've read it's a bit more complicated to use, but besides that, is it as good qualitywise and reliabilitywise? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! |
