I recently bought this spotting scope (above) to watch wolves and other wildlife at 300 to 500 yards. It has a 20-60X zoom eyepiece. What would be the advantage of getting a Pentax XW 30/40 eyepiece? Would this be better for photography or just a wider angle view?

Hi

Mostly a matter of a wider field of view, optically, but it will probably produce less vignetting than a zoom when digiscoping. By the time you add optical zoom on the camera to a 40x eyepiece, though, you really have too much magnification for digiscoping. I much prefer keeping magnification on the eyepiece at 20x and certainly no more than 30x for digiscoping.
