Hope somebody can help me out. I've got a Savage 111 with a flat receiver (before the AccuTrigger). I also have a new Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x50mm scope to replace the junk scope that came with the rifle. The problem is that the existing two piece base has the rings spaced too far apart to mount the new scope (the Leupold tube is shorter than the existing scope) I saw that Burris makes both a one-peice and a two-peice base for my rifle, but I don't know how to determine which will allow the use of my scope. I can't find any information on how apart the rings would be spaced on the bases offered.
Thanks,
JTiger
Using extension rings on your existing base will give you an extra 1/2" for mounting. What style base do you currently have on your rifle? _________________ Best Regards,
My current bases are aluminum Weaver style with only one position for the rings. When attempting to mount the new scope the rings are too far apart. I'm actually hoping to replace the existing base and rings with steel.
The Millett Model EX25006 will give you a 1/2" extension on both front and rear to bring the rings a total of 1" closer together. This should be more than enough for your setup. If you only need a total of 1/2" you can use the Model EX25004.
Warne makes a one piece base exclusively for the savage long action before accu triggers. More info can be gotten at http://banned/c-1775-savage.aspx . I don't know if I am allowed to do this just joined less than an hour ago. Please feel free to remove if necessary _________________ Always run away from a fight...but if they catch you send them to hell.
