|

I'll be visiting Yellowstone in August, and I'm going to purchase a spotting scope for viewing wildlife in the evenings. Given my budget and reading these forums, I've narrowed the choices down to the Bushnell Legend 20-60x60, Celestron Ultima 80, and a used but in good condition Sightron 20-50x80. I was able to look through the Sightron and was impressed, but I'm not very experienced with quality spotting scopes.
Any input or other recommendations (up to $250) would be appreciated. |

I received a Vortex Skyline 20-60 x80mm for Xmas and I am very, very happy with it. I have used it to view wildlife in my backyard as well as on several walks/hikes. I feel that it is an fantastic scope for the price. My wife and I researched several brands and tried out man scopes at various retailers and I believe that the Vortex was the best scope for the money. Very sharp at 20-40 power and still clear at 60...
Also, the warranty is fantastic. |

Thanks for your help, Joanie. Not only here, but reading all of the applicable threads along with the articles was a crash course in learning about and purchasing a spotting scope. I really appreciate the time and effort you've put into this. I went ahead and ordered the 80mm Legend, and because of your efforts I feel like I made a well informed decision.
I don't remember the sales reps name, but please put in a good word for her if you can. She was extremely polite, helpful and efficient. You don't get that very often over the phone these days. |
