Potentially, the Nikon is the better scope in terms of versatility - all kinds of optional eyepieces and camera adapters - but I would not go with the tactical version. It is still packaged with the old zoom eyepiece. The standard versions of the Fieldscope are packaged with the much better 20-60x #7467), which offers better eye relief and optics than the old zoom. All you lose with the standard Fieldscope is body color and the standard versions are packaged with a nylon view thru style case.
Optically, both are great scopes, but in an ED version, the Nikon 60mm Fieldscope will handle 60x quite well. That kind of magnification might be of more use for your application. _________________ Thanks for posting with us
