Hey,
I have a question for the resident genius Smile

I am a target shooter, shooting .30 cal at 200, sometimes 300 yards.
What I need to know is this:

If you were in my position, and had a budget of max $350, and already knew you wanted an angled body scope, which scope would you buy?

I am looking to buy the best scope possible in that budget that will get the job done.

Thanks in advance!

Now that I think about it, I should raise the max to $400 to include the Alpen.

Also, as a secondary question, what do you think of zhumell scopes, since I am also looking at their 20-60-80 that I saw on another site (you don't seem to have it for sale here).

Thanks again, and I look forward to your input!

You won't be disappointed with a Konus spotter 80mm or even 100mm at that range ( yards and $). You can even get a good stand with the spare change.

Hi

I'd take the Alpen 788 or the Vortex Skyline over the Zhumell or the Konus, anyday. You get EXACTLY what you pay for in a spottingn scope.

Ok, maybe it is just me, but after looking at both the Alpen 788 and the Vortex skyline 80.... I've found that they look *amazingly* similar.

Are these two just the same scope with a different eyepiece?

Or is it just coincidence?

Hi

Same country of origin and probably share some of the same parts. May even be coming out of the same factory, but, as with all optics, just a matter of how Vortex and Alpen spec for features and QC. Both great choice for the money.
