Hi everybody!
I am on sailing races and I'm looking for a way to measure aproximate distances from the other competitors boats.
I realize that laser rangefinders although they can be very accurate, they can't reach over about 1500yds, which is to short for me. I wouldn't mind to have less accuracy but higher range.
Knowing the other boat's mast heights, I believe it is possible to estimate the distance.
Is this possible? What would be the best solution in the market for this?

tks for the help!

You can use a binocular such as these Leupold Tactical 10x50s with a mildot reticle, assuming you know the size of the target. Complete instructions for using a mildot reticle can be found on this helpful Leupold page.

Made some more research on the subject and got some opinions from people that already use what I'm looking for:
Steiner 7x50 Commander V Binoculars 392 with Reticle and Compass
I think I'm going to buy it!
Thanks anyway Steven.
