HI

I was curious how the Burris Euro 10x42s stack up against comparatively priced brands. I have always liked Burris as a high quality, lower priced option. Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi

It's a fine binocular, if you want that kind of body style. I'd give a slight edge, optically, to the Pentax DCF SP or the Bushnell E2, but those are a conventional body design.

Thanks for the quick response. I have also been considering the pentax but am kind of undecided between the DCF SP and the DCF ED. I understand you get what you pay for, but i am just wondering if EDs are noticeably better optically.

Hi

Yes, as good as the SP is, I could see the difference by moving up to the ED. Contrast and resolution were a touch better on the ED, but as always, you have to pay much more to get ever smaller increases in performance in this quality range.

How do the Burris and the 2 Pentax binos rate in terms of low light conditions? I have a tendency to stay out a little later than i probably should sometimes.

Hi

Not going to be significant differences in actual image brightness, but the ED will still be the best in terms of detail and contrast in low light, simply because it eliminates more color fringing.

You are very welcome and, of course, light is important in a binocular.

Hi

The Razor is an excellent glass, though I would still give a slight edge to the Pentax DCF ED for resolution and contrast.
