Any particular thoughts on this newer more compact bino from Pentax? Have you been able to test this one yet?

Yes, I did. I was not blown away in terms of optics. I rated it as fair to good, but not great for the price. Buy it for its nice handling, but in terms of optics, not a significant improvement, if any, over the old DCF MP 8x28 it replaced. Unless you need the compact size, the Pentax 8x42 HRc is well worth the extra money.

Many 8x32s are not much bigger than the 28mm models on the market. Look for those. I like the Excursion 8x28 simply because I dislike double hinged 25mm models.
