After carefully considering the Katmai or the Pinnacle, I decided instead to go with the 8x32 Pentax DCF SP! Same price as the Pinnacle with an additional step up. Found one NIB for under $400 including all the accessories!
As her past posts indicate, I know that Joanie likes the SP`s!... Right Joanie?..........When these came along for under $400, Joanie influenced my decision to get them!!.....................Thanks Joanie! |

Phew, finally!
I looked at 10x, 8x and I did go with 10x, but for 8x the smaller 32mm is definitely pretty much all you need. I already have two 32mm of other brands. I would almost trade thew two for the Pentax. But now I do have a spare, so I do hang on to them both. Plus selling on eBay is PayPal only these days. |

.................The 42 mm and larger objectives are fine too, but I prefer the 32mm. I think an 8x32 is the best compromise between a smaller 8x20-25 compact and the larger 8x 42`s & 43`s.....I don`t like the bigger, heavier and bulkier binocs, especially when an optically good 8x32 is all one needs for just about any, if not all hunting situations!............That 8x32 Pentax DCF SP will be the perfect compromise; great glass, medium size and weight. |
