| Last year I did some research and had planned on buying a good pair of binoculars for hunting. Money became tight and i did not purchase them. I dont know how much has changed since last year and I don't have time to do all the research again. My choice last year was the Bushnell Elite E2 8x42. Is this still the best choice in this price range? I am also considering the Leupold Pinnacle. |

| B4 u buy, ck out the Swift 828 HHS...usu sells around $350 from estores and often less on ebay. FOV is better that either Leupold or Bushnell, is very nice to handle, lite wt & has vg resolution, almost as good as its porro relative, the 820, tho' with slightly less brightness and reduced FOV. In fact, if you aren't dead set on a roof glass, the 820 Audubon can't be touched by ANY bino under $500 (except if u hafta wear specs while viewing....the ER is only about 12mm). |

| The swift 826 is a closer match to what I'm looking for, but I dont know anything about Swift and their quality. Are they ranked up there with Leupold and other top manufactures? |

| Man it sure gets confusing when ther is more than a couple to choose from. I may just save the frustration and buy the Leupold Pinnacle 8x42. It seems to be the most popular, for hunting anyways. And according to you, Jne_K, the optical quality of the Pinnacle is about the best I can get at this price range, so I guess I can't go wrong with it. |

| Do the pinnacles have a rubber armor coating? How is the edge to edge sharpness? |

Just checked out the Swift 828, 8.5x44 advert on Opticsplanet. It does NOT say they are WATERPROOF AND FOGPROOF!!!!! Generally that means they are NOT water/fogproof?????
Hunting binoculars really should be both WATERPROOF and FOGPROOF!!!!!
Truthfully, I can not imagine anyone wanting binoculars for outdoor use that are NOT waterproof and fogproof!!!!!
Otherwise the Swift 828, 8.5x44 binoculars have great specs and look like they might have very good ergonomics, but it does not say that they are waterpoof and fogproof - pretty much required for hunting. |
