Hi,

I have a bushnell northstar 525x3. What mm eyepiece would it take to see it? What should I expect?

Mars is just a bright ball. How can I tone it down? Would I have to use a filter?

Hi

From a dark sky site with little light pollution, Andromeda is visible to the naked eye as a very faint smudge. It is visible in any optical instrument. Consult a star map for its location. Use a low power eyepiece (the 20mm supplied with your Northstar) and enjoy.

It sometimes helps to use a light orange or light red filter for viewing Mars with a small telescope.
