I would rather suggest SF-50BA configuration of LOMO SF-Series microscopes
(you were asking about SF-100). This model
http://www.opticsplanet.net/lomo-sf50ba.html offers larger working distance (170mm - 6.75") and comes with a very convenient mounting system called "swing-arm", thus allowing you to use your bench or table for engraving work on silver and gold.
