Between the Celestron Skyalign and the Meade Autoalign which is better and easier to use? How often do batteries need to be replaced with these alignment systems?

One more thing, are schmidt-cassegrains really maintenance free like refractors that I have owned?

Please advise.

Hi

Schmidt-Cassegrains are not quite as maintenance free as a refractor, but they are close. A Schmidt-Cassegrain may need collimation from time to time at the secondary. They are, however, similar to a refractor in cleaning requirements.

Sky Align versus Autostar is a Ford versus Chevy question. I don't use GOTO telescopes, so I'll let some of our regulars post an opinion on that one. Suffice it to say, there are many fans of each system.
