16x50 bushnell binoculars versus 10x50 simmons why does the 10x50 binoculars seem to have better clarity? does it have anything to do with bak 4 versus bak7 systems? |

Hi
Yes, Bak-4 will give you better image quality, but some of the difference in brightness you are seeing is also a matter of exit pupil (divide first number into the second number). Exit pupil is a rough guide to image brightness and though there are other factors involved in image brightness, exit pupil can still be useful tool for comparison.
A 10x50, with an exit pupil of 5, will be brighter than a 16x50, with a smaller exit pupil 3.1. Might not be noticed on a bright day, but you will definitely see a difference in low light situations.
You'll also find the 10x much easier to hold and steady. _________________ ----------------------
