I have a Savage 210F Bolt Action 12G shotgun.

I have a Simmons ProDiamond Shotgun 1.5-5 scope.

I recently replaced my cheap $15 Weaver scope rings with some
Leupold PRW rings (medium height). These rings are very nice and solid!

However, after I mounted the rings/scope onto my rifle, I can now see my barrel!?!?

Does this basically mean that I have too short of rings and that I need to get some "tall" or "high" rings?

I did not have this problem with my cheap Weaver rings. I compared the Leupold's with the Weaver's and the Weaver rings appear to be about 1/8" taller at the inside base of the rings. Would this 1/8" make that much of a difference??

THANKS!

You want your scope as low as possible. I am not quite sure what you have done and just how much of your barrel that you can see. I suspect that you have somehow incorrectly mounted the scope or it is the way that you are holding and sighting the rifle. You should be able to get a better cheek weld with the lower lings. I suspect that you are still holding your rifle the same way you did with the higher rings. Try to adjust your hold. Lower is always better with scope mounting.

If you are using less magnification, say 1.5x vs. 4x before, you will have a wider field of view (as well as top to bottom) that could bring the barrel into your sight picture.
