Hi Joni,
I need a 45 degree erector and wanted a wide angle lense, I noticed you have a terrestrial set including the 45 degree, 9mm,15mm(4000 series) for $99.00. My question is for the price difference of just the 45 prism ($50.00) should I just get the set or save the $50? Also are the QX w.a. series any good? I see they have 70 degree view. Are they being replaced by the 5000 series. All I own now is the standard 26mm I got with my ETX 90 AT. Thanks in advance. |

Hi
If you only have the 26mm Plossl supplied with your 90, you will need more eyepieces than that anyway, so the set is a good idea, especially if you plan to add the 45 degree erect image.
The QX series is an economy wide-angle design. They are a bit fuzzy at the edge of the field and the eye relief is not great. Also, you can only use the 1.25" QX models (15mm and 20mm) in your ETX. _________________ ----------------------

Thanks Joanie!
I placed my order because I did need the 45 degree erecting prism anyway as I'm also using this as a spotting scope. How could I lose buying the two extra eyepieces for basically $25.00 apiece. Thanks, you had recommended the ETX 90 to me and I really am impressed with the resolution. It's also a lot lighter than I thought it would be. It really can be a dual purpose scope for the right person. Since I am doing most of my viewing off of my deck on Lake Huron I don't really have to worry about transportation. I noticed that there is a standard tripod mount on the ETX 90 if you remove it from the forks! An added bonus if you want to use it as a spotting scope. Best regards!
