| I'm interested in a rangefinder for golf, but I've kind of been looking at these two models. Can you tell me the differences and if these would be a good choice for golf? The hunting models seem to be a bit cheaper than the models targeted to the golf crowd, but I'm not really convinced that these wouldn't work just fine for me. I've read where some people complained about not being able to get a reading on the flag out very far with these. Is that an accurate concern? |

Hi
You can use a hunting laser rangefinder for golf, but it is not going to be as easy to use. In a hunting model, the software is designed to make the more distant objects a priority and ignore nearby objects. In a golf model, the software reverses the priority. Closer objects, in this case the flag, become the priority and more distant objects are ignored. Obviously, then, you need to be very precise and very patient when trying to target the flag with a hunting rangefinder. Golf rangefinders also tend to be more compact and typically have a crosshair desinged for a smaller target such as the flag.
With recent rule changes in the PGA, there is currently a shortage on golf laser rangefinders. Most models are heavily backordered. _________________ ----------------------
