Hi,
Wondered if the televue 8mm-24mm was very good. Seems cheap for a televue eyepiece and then a zoom ? I have an ETX 90 Thanks in advance

Hi

Okay, it's no Panoptic or Radian, but it does work if you are willing to give up some performance. First and foremost, you always give up field of view with a zoom, even a good one and the Televue qualifies as a good one. Second, resolution and brightness in a zoom are never quite the equal of a good fixed focal length eyepiece.

Zooms are far more useful for day use, especially for birding and hunting
or ther applications where it is not always practical to change eyepieces. For astronomy, it does save you the expense of buying several eyepieces, but if you want the most out of your scope, I'd take the same money and invest it in a Televue Radian or other premium eyepiece.
