|
|
Hi guys
I just bought a MARLIN MODEL 25 22mag. It is in flawless condition and only has had 30 rounds thru it since it was new in 1988. I want to use it for target shooting and varmit hunting .It is not drilled for a scope but has grooves for those type rings. What scope would you guys recomend for it ?? I dont want to spend more than $100.00 Thanks GREYWOLF |

Hi
Nice talking with you this morning on the phone and good luck with those chucks. As we discussed, just use standard 22/rimfire style rings for a 1" tube scope and you are set.
Since you will be shooting at 100-125 yards, any big game scope will work for you on your 22mag. Kind of tough to get anything real good optically for $100, but since this is a gun for your youngster and not sure if he will stay with it, I understand. If you are going to go inexpensive, I recommend staying with a major product line like Bushnell for the customer service should you need help. Try the Trophy 3-9x40, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-3-9x40-trophy-trx-reticle-riflescope.html for instance.
A 3-9x40 is a workable choice for that range. Try the _________________ ----------------------

Joanie, What is the real performance differences between the Bushnell Banner, Trophy, and Legend Series Scopes? If I were to look through a 3 X 9 in each of these what would the real differences be for the money?
Any special advantages in regards to less parallax in any of these over the other? I am still debating what to do with my 22 mag rifle, myself. Don't consider this one worthy of a high dollar scope as I admit, its not too serious a shooter in what I use it for. Gary. |

Hi
Stay with the Legend or the Trophy for their optics and construction, both of which are a step up from the Banner.
Bushnell is using their Amber-bright coatings on the Trophy, which is nothing more than a filter to enhance brown colors, but at the expense of overall image brightness. I've never been a fan of this ploy on any kind of optics. I'd go with the fully multi-coated and brighter Legend in a minute. _________________ ----------------------
