Hi joanie. Just wondering how the nikon EDIII with the mcII 20-60x zoom compares with swarovski 65 HD 20-60x? Also interested in what Kowa in the 60-65mm range offers and how it performs against these two.
Thanks!!

Hi

All are premium grade scopes if you are talking the ED/HD versions and all will score very well. I'd rate the them Swarovski and Kowa 663 too close to call with the Nikon Fieldscope ED just a shade behind. Any of these will please the fussiest birder looking for a portable scope.

Hi joanie thanks for taking the time to answer specific questions!
I was wondering if the Nikon Tf3 performs the same optically as the EDIII "the white one". Also is this correct the field of veiw on the tf3 at 20x is 156 ft at 1000 yards and the EDIII at 20x is 105 ft at 1000 yards. One more thing is the TF3 body constructed of magnesium alloy and the EDIII of aluminum.
thanks for the help.

Hi Mike

The TF3 is the tactical version of the Fieldscope, but it is still a Fieldscope. When equipped with the same Fieldscope eyepiece, it will have the same specs as far as field of view and so on. Personally, I would drop the 20-45x that comes with it and replace it with the 7467, 20-60x, http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-spotting-scope-eyepiece-7467.html Optics are much better with this eyepiece.

Nikon lists the same weight for the TF3 and the standard 60 in their latest catalog, so I doubt you'll be getting a titanium scope. Going tactical gets you the matte balck finish and scope caps.

Hi Joanie,
I saw in the description of the 7467 eyepiece that it is covered by nikon's 25 year no fault policey. I have read and have been told by sportsman's warehouse that they are not covered by this policey. Has this changed?
thanks!!

Hi

If you buy from us, all Fieldscope eyepieces are covered by the full Nikon 25 year/$10 no fault warranty. I called Nikon to double-check and they verify this.
