I am interested in LOMO SF-100 Stereo Microscope. My application is to observe very flat samples (wafers) under incident illumination (oblique is fine). However, the sample is inside a cavity that has a top transparent plate about 30mm above it. We are looking at very small features and thus need high magnification but at a long working distance to provide room for a light beam of sorts. We are not so much interested on the large FOV but on the magnification and the working distance. We are looking for magnifications up to 100x or 150x. We will need to take the microscope body off from its stand and transfer it to a stand manufactured for it onto our stage. Do you have 20x or 25x eyepieces? The 95mm working distance seems fine, and it should not change by adding higher power eyepieces. However, if we use the 2x auxiliary objective, the WD may no longer be 95mm. Right? Please let me know if you could help us decide on the proper set up. Thank you very much.

Hi,

LOMO does not make 20x or 25x eyepieces. However, maybe a set of telescope objectives would achieve this mag. Other brands of eyepieces will work with the microscope, but bushing may be needed if they aren't 1.25" diameter. Most other brands are 23mm or 30mm diameter eyepieces. We have bushings for the 23mm eyepieces, but not for 30mm eyepiece. Adding the 2x auxiliary lens reduces the working distance by about 1/2, so from 95mm to about 47mm.
