I would like to get my husband a spotting scope for wildlife viewing, one that he could also use with a camera. We visit national parks each year. I know nothing of cameras or scopes. His camera is a Cannon EOS Elan II and we also have a point and shoot digital.
Is Celeston a good manufacturer? Why the price difference between it and the Pentex and Nikons. Should I stick to the latter manufacturers? I want a good value, but quality is the key.
Price range under $1000 for the kit.
Thanks for your advice. |

Hi
I'd look at the Bushnell Elite 20-60x80, http://www.opticsplanet.net/628045.htmlfor the scope. This is an excellent choice under $1000. For your Elan, you'll need the #780050, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-80mm-elite-spotting-scope-35mm-camera-adapter.html adapter plus an EOS t-ring such as the #93419, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-80mm-elite-spotting-scope-35mm-camera-adapter.html For any digital point and shoot camera, just use a universal adapter such as the Barska, http://www.opticsplanet.net/barska-digiscoping-adaptor.html or the Radian, http://www.opticsplanet.net/radian-universal-spottingscope-digital-camera-adapter.html
Don't forget, you'll also need a good tripod. Any spotting scope, including the Elite, will fit on any stnadard photo tripod. If you don't have a tripod, the Bogen 3180N, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bogen-manfrotto-3180n-tripod-and-head-kit.html is a good choice. _________________ ----------------------
