Hello. I would like some information on the Bushnell Elite line of spotting scopes. I am primarialy interestred in the 70mm elite, but am also considering the smaller 60mm. Could you tell me how the Elite 70mm stands up against scopes like the meade etx-90 and the celestron ultima ed 80 and other scopes in this price range? I am mainly interested in the 70mm elite because of it's lightweight. Since this is a roof prism scope is it more durable that other scopes in it's price range? Is this a good choice for me to take backpacking, hiking, hunting and birding? I don't wear eyeglasses and I have no intentions of digiscoping.

Hi

Thanks for posting with us.

if you don't wear glasses and don't plan to digiscope, the Bushnell 70mm Elite, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-20-60x70mm-elite-spotting-scope-782670p.html is an excellent choice if you are looking for the ultimate in a compact, rugged and backpackable scope. It was designed with this type of use in mind.

It probably won't be as sharp as an ED scope, but I would rate it as very good. It is certainly better made and more rugged than either the Ultima or the ETX.
