in agreement with all Suncloud "lovers" ...my hubby has had his for nearly 10 yrs and believe me this is a miracle in itself! He purchased a pair for me probably 6 yrs ago...my lenses now have 'matching' circles in the lenses and look like 'clown' glasses and now then his broke in half..we were searching high and low for Sunclouds website to no avail...then found this forum...I sure hope somebody comes up with a contact number for them...they truly are the best sunglasses we have ever had...we live on the water and you can SEE deep in-to the water..I know they were designed for snow skiing..moguls etc..but for the water they are wonderful!
sylvanbeach@cox.net if anyone comes up with a resolution to the answer..

I have had several pairs of Sun Clouds over the years and also like the rose color tint. Unfortunately, I just broke my most functional one playing football this past weekend. They were on my croakies resting on my chest, when a fast spiral came into me and I caught it onto my chest, and crash, both arms broke off. Not cool.
The one issue that Sun Clouds have, and if they would address it, would make their glasses more marketable. They need to consider making them in a polarized version. If they did that, they would sell a ton of them. Polarization is what every fisherman, boater, outdoor enthuisist, and other people are looking for today.
Just some input from Michigan. Take care, |

Hello Z,
Thanks for the info. I have a pair of SunCloud sunglasses that I have been trying to get repaired and / or replaced but no luck thus far. Any chance of replacing them is of an interest to me. So if the current marketing director is interested in starting this line of glasses again I am very interested.
Thanks,
Curt G. |

I just found this thread. I too have been looking in vain for a new pair of SCs and feel very pessimistic that any of us will ever look at the world through a new pair.
So, what's the next best choice? Is there a SunClone ? |

| I took my SCRs to an optometrist when I was living in Germany. They re-shaped the lenses to fit in a frame of my choice. Now I have the ultimate pair of sunglasses. I don't know if you could get that done here in the states. No one believes in repairing things here. Or matbe it is just to difficult to tech the illegal immigrant workers how to do it. |

All my skiing buddies in Ohio wear Sunclouds. They are the best! My Rose Aviators just broke after 10+ years of abuse. I have been looking for a retailer for several years. Please bring them back!!!! |

| Maybe the rights to Sunclouds can be purchased from the new owners, especially if they are not going to make them anymore. Even if the only people buying them are skiers (which I don't believe is the case) I think there would still be much profit to be made. I sure wish I could find a new pair. They are the best sunglasses I have ever owned at any price! Maybe an interesting business venture... dburgessc@aol.com |

I am glad to have found anything on Sunclouds. My eyes won't tollerate anything but my Sunclouds. I have searched for ANYTHING that will replace my early 80's pair & found nothing. I am so glad to have a place to bug about returning them to the market. Thanks for all the work that went into this! _________________ Teri |

Hi Suncloud fans! I thought I was the only living boy on the planet!
I picked up my sunclouds 1993 in a sale at the Sunglass Hut at London Airport! They are and always will be the best sunglasses I ever had!
Those rose tinted lenses in the old fashioned wayfarer style black frames were the best £36 I ever spent. I used them all the time .. They made the whole world look rosier.
They got a bit scratched, but I didnt care .. but last week it all came to an end .. they broke across the bridge
It makes me feel good that I'm not alone in the search, I've scoured Europe for them, nobody has heard of them.
It was a bad week for sunglasses last week cos I also broke my Carrera Sunjets these are also very rare (the Sunjet) and there is a whole sunglass story which goes into them too.
Products as good as these should be re-invented. Viva Suncloud! |

| I will keep checking to see if you make any progress. My husband would rather have new Sunclouds than a Ferrari. It seems the Sunclouds are harder to come by. He has two old pairs that he treats like a classic car but loss and breakage are inevitible. Good luck and I hope to find them again soon. |

Alternatives update:
Maui Jim sunglasses are not too bad. I got a pair hoping that they might come close to the good old SunClouds. Nice, but not even close to SCRs.
This company Bucci (http://www.buccisunglasses.com/tech_specs.php) makes a polarized glass lens called "Rose - Specific Zone Technology™". The specs say they have a split mirrored lens with 7-10-7% light transmission. Has anyone tried these? I'm tempted...
Bring back the SCRs!! |
