I am looking at a new telescope and I am very interested in the Meade 10" LXD-55 SN. If I'm looking to do some deep sky viewing and some photography would this be a good scope? Also, for the money would it be better to settle for a smaller LXD-55 SC type scope? _________________ skoalman |

The LXD 55 SN, http://www.opticsplanet.net/me-ts-10lxd55sn10.html, would be a good choice for an all around telescope, especially if your main focus (sorry about the pun) will be visual observing. An SN is a bit more light efficient than an SCT of the same size and will give you the most telescope for the dollar.
You can still use this an SN for photography, but an SCT, with a camera mounted at the rear, is little more user friendly and convenient to set up for photography, and there are more photgraphic accessories available. If you have mostly photography in mind, go with an SCT. _________________ ----------------------
