I am looking for a Gen 1 night vision device for boating,

2 models I am looking at are the

Night Owl Night Vision Explorer Pro 5x Monocular - NOCX5

and the

Night Owl Optics Explorer Marine 3X Waterproof Night Vision Monocular 3.1x - NOCX3M or the 5x model

which unit would be more appropriate for night boating on large bodies of water.. ? what are the major differences in the 2, is it just the magnification?

thanks

Hi

Go with the 3x. Night vision is a low resolution technology and increasing magnification not only narrows the field of view, it also decreases image quality. Other tah magnification, these are the same unit.
