the ATN MO4 or the Night Owl Optics Explorer Marine? Or would you recommend another around this price range? Will use it mostly for fun while camping.

The Night Owl Marine http://www.opticsplanet.net/night-owl-explorer-marine-31x-monocular-nocx3m.html is one of my favorites, very ergonomic. The ATN http://www.opticsplanet.net/atnamtmo41st.html is a bit unwieldy, as the front lens would suggest. Take a look at the Yukon http://www.opticsplanet.net/yukon-2x24-multitask.html . It's the least expensive and as ergonomic as the Night Owl, but they just started offering a LIFETIME WARRANTY! Unheard of. That would seal the deal every time.
By the way, performance of first generation products are comparable.

thanks for the information. how much of a difference does the lens diameter make? I see the Night Owl has a lens with twice the diameter. does the larger diameter make a noticeable difference in the the ability of the scope to gather light?

wow, a lifetime warranty. that is incredible and definitely worth considering if the Yukon's performance is up to that of the Night Owl. Now why can't Night Owl offer that warranty? Now that would seal the deal!

Hi,

Yes, the larger objective lens does make a noticeable difference in brightness, but also in balance and weight. It does not outweigh the importance of a more ergonomic and user-friendly scope, in my opinion.
