My gunsmith has an older Tasco Titan, NIB, 299.00 with German #4 reticle, 3-9x42, 30mm tube for sale.
It is heavy (which i like) seems very durable, clear and good light transmission at night. I really like this heavy German reticle, too.
Will this scope hold up on my .308 FAL? I realize the new ones are cheaper, but they are not configures the same. (smaller tube, lighter reticle).
I wouldn't mind paying a little more, but I like this scope if it holds up well.
recommendations, opinions, and experiences welcome,
Thank you |

Hi,
At least do a Google search before you pay $100.00 too much for a questionable scope. _________________ Aim Hard!

Of course I did Google searches, Gunbroker, AR15.com, Falfiles Forums.
Then I asked my question HERE, hoping for educated assistance.
Maybe I'm wrong, but "do a Google search" sounds a lot like "buzz off, I'm busy."
If the Tasco Titan is a "questionable scope," why do you carry it? |

Well, Steven-L, you've given advice to others, but "Google-search" to me. I see you have posted to others after my response to your non-response.
You could have at least pointed me towards some similar scopes you have for sale, but for some reason unknown to me, I have been ignored.
I guess I will return the favor to Opticsplanet.
So long, and thanks for all the fish. Too bad I really wanted help with a rifle scope purchase. |

It would be nice to know how old "older" really is because even though its sitting in the box unused, the internal seals aren't getting any younger. Doesn't really matter how clear the optics are while at the store, if the first cold wet hunt out in the forest primeival (sp?) it fogs up on you. So if its really been sitting around for a long time, I would question whether or not you really will get the life time of use you would expect out of it since the optics may be pristine but the seals may not and you are going to be paying new product prices.
I would not be too hard on Steve. They way I read your message it sounded like your heart was already set on this product and so he was just remining you to make sure that $300,00 price isn't too steep and that you could not find the same thing else where for less. not that he was too busy to help you with other products. There are a lot of good scopes you can get in that price range. but your own words were that you liked the older heavier model because you translate that as more durable (not saying thats right or wrong) and you liked the older heavier german reticle (not saying thats right or wrong). The way I read it is that he was not going to try and turn you away from something you wanted, just make a quick note that you may not want to pay 3 bills for it.
If you ask the question: Can I find a similar German Reticle in a modern durable scope in the $300.00 price range? I am sure you would get a reasonable answer.
I sure would like to see a picture of what this reticle looks like, is there a place to go that shows an image that I can see for future reference? |

It sounded like you wanted that scope. I shouldn't have let you know the price was too high. You're welcome. _________________ Aim Hard!
