Joanie -
You bird watch yourself from what I've read. I really want to take pictures through a spotting scope. I have a Minolta Dimage 7 and a Minolta Z1.
I'm looking for an inexpensive scope (max - $250) that I can adapt one of my cameras to that will give me the best results.
Thanks,
Kris |

Hi Kris
Yes, I am an avid birder and have been all my life.
No one in this price range makes digital adapters for their spotting scopes. With the popularity of digiscoping, we can only hope this will change soon.
Until then, the only approach will be trial and error and a little creativity. Scopetronix, http://www.scopetronix.com/, and LensPlus, http://www.lensadapter.com/, both make a variety of adapters for those willing to explore on their own.
As far as spotting scopes under $250, try one of these. Both are camera adaptable for 35mm cameras, but you may have some luck adapting them for a digital:

Joannie -
I bought a Lomo Astele 60 with a zoom lens. I had a scopetronix camera adapter for my telescope. This scopetronix adapter works with the Lomo 60. However, I can't use it with the zoom lens. I have a set of fixed lenses that I bought a year or so ago for a $100. So I can use those in conjuction with my new spotting scope (which was $100) and the scopetronix adapter and I'll be set. Don't know what kind of pictures my Minolta cameras will take with the Lomo but I hope to find out this weekend. I have a Dimage 7 and a Z1. Will let you know.
