Oberwerk binoculars

Post by Stan @ Opticsplanet on Wed Apr 21, 2004 4:25 pm

Dear Ron,
Thank you for your interest in www.OpticsPlanet.com. Oberwerk makes some very good quality binoculars, http://www.opticsplanet.com/oberwerk-binoculars.html, especially for astronomy.

For more casual use I would recommend the smaller 20x90 (the replacement), http://www.opticsplanet.com/ow-20x90-binocular.html, as they will be easier to transport and, more importantly, find a tripod for mounting. If astronomy use is important, you will find more use with the 22x100, http://www.opticsplanet.com/ob22gibiwifr.html.

As for viewing, you will either need to set the tripod low and make your brother lean over, or the sister-in-law will need a stepstool. That's just one of those unfortunate side effects of a difference in height.

I hope this has been helpful. Good luck.

Hayaaa ... hope y'all had a great T'giving!!! :D

Want to buy either Oberwerk 20x80 or 22x100 with tripod as Xmas gift for my brother.

Binoculars are to be used for casual viewing of distant mountain and seascapes, native animals, ships, celestial bodies....

What is your recommendation for tripod/head, considering ease of use, functionality, appearance. Brother is 6' tall. Sister-in-law is 5'2".

your neighbor .....ron :D
