Hi

As to the IPD issue, I can't supply the specs, but I'd rate the eyecups to be comparable on both

Thanks for your thoughts....

Which one would have the more comfortable, quality eye cups?

Since I have a somewhat narrow PD of 57.5mm, purchasing the Pentax DCF SP with a minimum of 58mm would be too risky
for me. I also LOVE the Vortez Viper 10 x 42, but again, the minimum PD on this model is 59mm so that one will not
work either.

Hi

My only gripes with the Gold Rings has been their weight and the finish. At 33 oz, for the Gold Ring and even more for the Rainier, they are really not competitive on today's market. These days, just about all premium binos are under 30 oz and some quite a bit less than 30 oz. That may not be a factor for your use, but if you are carrying binos around your neck for long hours, that weight should be. Both fine binoculars, but that weight is a deal breaker for me and the way I use binoculars.

I also have had a hard time holding the Gold Ring in my hands with its slick finish when my get wet or sweaty. Really minor points to an otherwise truly excellent bino. Construction is top flight and I love the fact they are assembled in the US. The Rainiers will hold a bit nicer and, although not HD, optics are on a par with the Gold Ring

Hello,

After extensive on line research, I have narrowed my choice down to either the Alpen Rainier 10 x 42 or the
Leupold Golden Ring 10 x 42. I am aware these 2 are among the heavier 10 x 42's, but I do not see that as an issue
for me.
Can I please have comments and experiences from folks have either own both, or have tested and experimented with
them and your feelings on both?
One of my main questions would be which model has the best fit and finish, with the best balance and the most comfortable
and quality eye cups?
I would appreciate your thoughts between these two models!

Obviously, there is NO way for me to tell which model will work best for me unless I have them in my own hands.

Michael
