Yes, you really need to specify a budget. Big difference in quality and performance between a $100 bino and a $500 bino.

Minox HG 8x33 outstanding resolution. But, only 15 mm of eye relief. Also, quirky "Quick Focus" system. And same problem all 32 have - they are short; thus feel heavier than their listed 20.8 oz.

Nikon Monarch 8x42 are a great handling full size binocular, none better, perfect balance, feel lighter than their 21.5 oz. Also very, very good resolution (Yes, the Minox HG is a bit better). Their poly carboate frame is stronger than aluminum or magnesium and it does not corrode like magnesium (terrible in salt water) and aluminum).

Good luck, buying blind is difficult at best.

Explore some 8x32 models. See what fits your budget. Google for prices, some are going cheap.

Try the Nikon Monarch in an 8x42 or 8x36 for some great optics for the dollar, nice handling and do everything size. The 8x36 will be lighter, but even the 8x42 is light by 8x42 standards. Be tough to beat for the dollar, if that is in your price range.

Best mid-size Binoculars

I am looking to buy a set of binoculars that will be used for deer hunting (tree stands) and for hiking. I want to avoid a lot of weight and bulk but have good clarity and work in low light situations. Please suggest binoculars that you think will suit my needs.
