Vortex Razor HD (new model)

Okay, yes, I understand.

There is some give and take on published fields of view as far as effective or actual field of view. Distortion and lack of sharpness, especially on wide-angle models tends to reduce the effective field of view. Still, for an 8x binocular, 325-350 is plenty for any application. What really counts is the central 60-70% of the field, though I do tend to be fussy about edge sharpness, myself.

Some binoculrs will lose clarity towards the outer edge of the cirle you see when looking through.
The manufacturer may give a FOV but it may be a little less given the distortion.
Did that make any sense?

Not sure what you mean by useful, but as 8x32s go, that is about as wide as gets in FOV.

How useful is the 477 FOV @ 1000 yards of the Razor HD 8x32 and how does it compare to others useful FOV?

Haven't seen the new version, but old or new, the Razor is certainly a good choice. The Pentax DCF ED is certainly another optically excellent choice in that price range.

Has anyone looked through the most new Vortex Razor HD?

Compared it to the Zeiss Victory, Leica Ultravid HD, Swarovski SLC HD?

Vortex does not advertise a flat field like the Swarovski Swarovision or Nikon EDG series so I'm not expecting that.

I am looking for a good 8x with better build quality then the China ED binos and the Razor HD in in my price point.
