"Powerful" to the point of not being able to steady the binoculars enough to use them effectively is a mistake. Detail gained by excessive magnification will be lost to unsteadiness. Most folks find that 10x in a full size binocular is the limit for supporting binoculars without some kind of rest. Compact binoculars
are ven harder to steady because of their lighter weight. I would not recommend more than 10x in a compact. Higher magnification also brings a smaller field of view and that makes a binocular harder to use.
Try the excellent Brunton Eterna 10x25
, for a quality 10x compact.
