OUCH! Bummer. Porros are not better. Under 100 bucks or so you'll see better performance in a porro vs a roof, but after that, they're almost identical. Porros are still available for applications that don't put a premium on size. Auto focus is made for medium range only, not long ranges, and not short ranges. You'll get much better performance out of an adjustable binocular. They are so easy to focus it's not even worth mentioning. 90% of all new binocs are roofs. The new Zeiss Conquest HDs are excellent, and under a grand. Steiner Nighthunter roofs are less. Down some more in price is the Bushnell Elite E2, another really good roof.

:( Big dummy me left my 10x50 xp porros on my four wheeler after loading up and drove off. BOY AM I SAD!!! I want to replace them but they are no longer made. How do the new roof designs compare to the older porros? I really think I will miss the auto focus. Isn't the center focus hard to adjust in low light? I can find one or two of the porros still on the internet but if I have to lay out the money I may as well look at my options. your help and opinions are welcome
