The best is whatever you think is the best for your purposes. For close work I prefer the wide FOV of the EOTechs. Aimpoints are also excellent. I like being able to adjust my dot brightness.
Magnifiers are also available for these units. Don't discount the
Docter. The small size and strength of the units are great selling points. I love mine.
For ranges much over 100 yards I prefer magnification. A low power optic will give you great versatility, whereas for long range the sky is the limit for power level.
You have to choose the most important application for your gun to decide what optic is best suited to it.
