Davey,

Thank you for posting. You are correct, the 52mm offers the same temple length. The Wayfarer Sunglasses can be tricking. They have unwavering, almost unaltering personalities. Either they are perfect on the wearer or in a small way something just doesn't work. I find that they frustrate many people for this reason. I checked and there are no other size temple arms available. On the tstreet I see many people just deal with the long temple arms or other annoyances. Both models have the 145mm lens.

Hi, just wondered if you could advise me please - I've just got my first Wayfarers in the 2132 55, I love their shape and fit but am concerned that the arm is too long and they are slightly wide on my face - what would you recommend I looked into ordering in place with a shorter arm but similar fit? I thought about exchanging for the 2132 52, but believe the arms are the same length.

Thank you for the posts. If I were you I would start with the larger of the Wayfarers. Strat by trying the Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer Sunglasses RB2140 in 54mm first. Then consider the Ray-Ban New Wayfarer Sunglasses RB2132in 55mm. If those don't work you may fall for the Ray-Ban RB4165 Sunglasses. They seem to work for us larger hat sized individuals.

What size should I wear?? I wear a 81/4 fitted hat. I think I might be SOL if I want a pair that fits comfortably

Hi,

I have a 7 3/4 hat size which is obviously quite large. I'm looking to get a pair of 2140 wayfarers. Would the 50mm be too small and I'd be better with the 54mm lenses?

Thanks in advance.

I spoke to Ray-Ban and all the dimensions they can offer as follows:

50mm has a B of 41mm, ED 54.7mm, bridge 19mm and temple 145mm
54mm has a B of 44.1, ED is 59.1, bridge is 19mm and temple arms 145mm

They do not have a top measurement or a frame edge measurement. I hope this helps you.

It is common sense that the edges of the frames must be taken in consideration however most manufacturers do not supply that. To measure the top doesn't help either. So we are left to offer the customer a lens and bridge width measurement combination. And my reader didn't ask about the B measurement (vertical) but I would've been happy to supply that. Again, to all my readers these are helpful guides not to be used in replacement of trying frames on.

Thanks again.

The height info was more to help those looking for information as I have found it difficult to find much on what I wanted to know.

Having tried the larger 2140's (good width, too tall), my wife's 50mm 2140's (good height, too narrow), her Wayfarer I's (same as her 2140's), I can of course go out and try some 2132's in 55mm, but I can't try on 54mm 2113's as they are no longer made. So I was hoping to find out how the 2113's compare to any of the current ones (large 2140 or 2132) measurement-wise (across top, and height) so I am able to consider whether to search out a used pair.

I recently bought some 2140's in 54/18 size (frame 146mm wide across top) and although the width was good for me, the frame is too big height-wise.

I know the 2132 has a lower height compared to the 2140, but it appears the 2132 55mm model is narrower that the 2140 54mm due to the thinner frame.

What about the old 2113 54/19 model? Does anyone know the width of the frame across the top, and the maximum height of the frame (somewhere in the lens region)? Is this model wider or narrower than the 2140 54mm?

Many thanks for any help.

The Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer Sunglasses RB2140 offers two sizes as well; 54mm and 50mm. 54 offer an 18mm bridge. 54+18+54=126mm. And the 50mm which did not work for you has a bridge of 22mm. 50+22+50=122mm.

The way you add up the three measurements is not correct for overall width. For example I have here a pair of 2140 50/22 (my wife's) which measure 140mm across the top of the frame, not 122mm. The lenses do not measure 50mm horizontally, this is the longest distance across the lens at an angle to horizontal. By the way, this frame is 46mm high for those needing to know.

My wife's other pair of original B+L Wayfarer USA 50/22 in front of me has almost identical measurements, 140mm x 47mm high.

Thank you for the post. If you can't find anyone local you can order from us and take full advantage of our hassle free return policy.

Ray-Ban "Large" Wayfarer: Ray Ban RB2140 54mm and RB2132 in 55mm

Ray-Ban "Medium" Wayfarer: RB2132 in 52mm

Ray-Ban "Small" Wayfarer: Ray Ban RB2140 50mm

The 47/22 of the RB2140 means that the lens width is 47mm and the distance between the lenses is 22mm. The 47mm is no longer in production but is considered very small.

I hope this help you. Have fun!

Hello! I was looking to buy a pair of Ray Bans, having never had a pair before I didn't realise how much there really was to the sizing, I kind of just figured there was one size for everyone! But clearly I was wrong! I'm looking for a pair of Wayfarers and just want a normal, 'medium', size. I know there are various different types of the Wayfarer (the 2132, the 2140 and etc), but I was wondering if you could tell me the medium/middle size of each of these models as I haven't quite decided which model to buy! I also came across one size that read '47/22'. What does this mean? Thank you so much, Will!

Thank you for the post and welcome. The New Wayfarer RB2132 offers two sizes, the 55mm and the 52mm. both with the bridge of 18mm. 55+18+55=128mm.

The Ray-Ban New Wayfarer Sunglasses RB2132 have a more narrow or squat lens shape which is more complimentary to round or oval faces. Go for the 55mm first. Good Luck!
