Please help me identify Wayfarer 2 L1724

The Wayfarer II L1724 you are speaking about was not manufactured in Italy or China, but in the USA. The boxes and the ear piece both say so.

B&L stand for [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/bausch-lomb-brand.html]Bausch and Lomb[/link]. Wayfarers were designed in 1952 by [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/ao-eyewear.html]American optical[/link] designer Raymond Stegeman, who procured dozens of patents for [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/bausch-lomb-brand.html]Bausch and Lomb[/link], [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-brand.html]Ray-Ban[/link]'s parent company at that time. They are probably some of the first models ever produced. Not sure of the monetary value but I would hold on to them.

Thanks for your response, but I can clearly see "B&L [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-brand.html]RAY BAN[/link] WAYFARER II USA" stamped right on the frame. The other side has YRAS stampeded on it. Tiny "rb" marked on inside right. These were found at thrift store years ago.

The Wayfarer II has been discontinued and is no longer in production. Therefore I wouldn't be able to give you the value or year of production. L1724 is referencing that the black color for the RB2037 which is also discontinued. The RB2037 was manufactured in Italy. The Wayfarer II was manufactured in both Italy and China not in the USA. When speaking to [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/ray-ban-brand.html]Ray-Ban[/link] they were not familiar with the YRAS. Are you sure the model you have is the Wayfarer II RB2143? You may want to contact the seller and see why they sold [link=http://www.opticsplanet.com/sunglasses.html]sunglasses[/link] without the case. Once the paperwork is lost, it is very difficult to acquire others. This seems a bit unusual.

Hello - I recently purchased a USA made B&L Wayfarer II. It is black with L1724 stamped on ear pad, but right next to that are the letters "YRAS", can you tell me:

1) What do the letters YRAS mean?
2) What year are these?
3) How can I find a matching case, and any original paperwork, ect., correct for this year?
4) Are all fakes stamped "Italy" on them, or do they also make fakes with "USA" stamped as well?
5) Condition is near perfect, what is an approx value?
