I had a pair of Sunclouds with the rose lens which I bought while siiing in Utah in about 1996. They were dark brown (nylon?) framed and more of a square sided design. I "lost" them in a Federal Express store in Jackson Mississippi around 2005. (I put them on the little counter to the side while I filled out the paperwork. I finished and left. No other customers in the store. I went to my car, realized I didn't have them and went back in. No glasses. I asked the people inside, but no one had found any. Sad, as I was gone less than 5 minutes, which is less time than it takes to fill out one of their forms, but I cannot accuse anyone because I was out of the store for a short period. My loss, because, in theory, I guess, someone could have walked in, took them and run out before I got back and I won't call anyone a thief unless I can prove it. Still, I didn't go back to that FedEx store ever again.)

Anyway, that is my sad tale and my loss for not keeping up with them. I don't know the model numbers, but I would love to find another pair. I haven't even been able to find anything that looks like them on any website. Best glasses I have ever owned.

If anyone knows where some might be found, please let me know.

found some really nice sunclouds on ebay. i received them in the mail the other day and now i cant stop wearing them. the rose frames are ridiculously beautiful and i kinda want to order more before the seller runs out. liime131 i think was the persons ebay name, wonderful ebayer and shipped it out to me very promptly.

I have 2 pair of vintage 80's Suncloud SCR's in mint/new condition (red and white nylon frames made in France) that I was just preparing to sell on ebay when I ran across this forum. I originally bought 3 pair in the mid 80's and predominantly wore the black pair only and plan to keep them since the lenses are so amazing.

These might best be described as a double bridge, modified Wayfarer design with the nicer double gradient rose lenses.

FOUND THEM! finally someone is selling a vintage pair of sunclouds from the 80s! i am now a proud owner of a pair of the SC-7 Rose sunglasses that i use to wear when i was in my teens! i bought them on ebay the other day and theyre so beautiful! i totally forgot how it looked through a pair of rose lenses, it was so vibrant. the ebayer is liime131 and has a few more on sale i think, so hurry! the seller was very friendly and shipping was fast. he even has the old amber lens sunglasses too! hope this helps all you "ROSE" fans out there!!!

yes plenty.. listing them on eBay, starting with the Ambers and moving to the Rose lenses soon.. I believe you already bought a few pairs let me know how you like them and if you have any requests.. I probly have 50+ pairs left

Well, I'm back after, what is it - 7 years. Haven't been able to get my Original Sunclouds (yes, the new sunclouds are not the old quality) repaired.

I tried the Body Glove Sandy Beach and Wahoo rose sunglasses that someone mentioned as being close to SCR (Suncloud Rose) lenses and found them adequate but a little light (lets too much sunlight through). I just tried a new brand that is quite close to SCR. They are Oceano sunglasses from Italy. While they are not polarized they do have reflective coating. The sales rep said they were made with the original Suncloud Rose lens in mind. Couldn't find a website for them.

I saw two models w/ the rose lenses, the Aspen and I can't remember what the other one was. Big 5 sporting goods has both the Oceano and the Body Glove sunglasses normally at about $110 but now on sale for around $45 or $50.

I am glad you found our forum useful. Rose colored lenses are great and everything appears sharp and contrasted. Most hues in the warmer spectrum of the color wheel are great for highlighting. Browns, Amber's, Yellows and Vermilion all work great for bringing the detail and sharpness. However these lenses aren’t color correct. They will wash your view with their warm colors. And that is really nice!

So glad to find this forum. I have 2 pair of Sunclouds from the 80's. One is rose lens with brown frames, the other is dark brown lens with black frame. The frames are kind of unisex so my husband and I can both use them. I absolutely love the rose lens or "looking at the world through rose colored glasses". The dark brown lens enhance green and yellow. I recently made the mistake of making a purchase online of what I thought were going to be Suncloud's. Boy, was I disappointed, not even close to the real thing. I have since been searching the web trying to find out what happened. Thanks to this site I now know. I'm returning the 'Sunclouds' and will make due with my 80's, somewhat scratched lens until I can find the real thing.

The new suncloud optics have NOTHING to do with the old sunclouds, the only thing they'll do is offer a slight discount on their new sunclouds. Been there done that.

It sounds like they might be authentic, but of course you can never be too sure. I would recommend calling Suncloud Optics to see if they are able to find a way to validate their authenticity.

The Vuarnets are very nice sunglasses though!

I have a pair or suncloud Rose colored lenses, with Dark blue Cat eye frame, and also a pair of Vuarnet almost the same, lenses are not perfect. BUT SCR on right lens, from the 80's, I quit skiing and will sell both... BTW, there is no V etched on the lenses of the Vuarnets... don't know why. they sure look authentic.
