All the Magellan Exlporists GPS have built-in maps of basic roads, parks and so on, but the 400 and up have optional Mapsend available and also use SD cards for even more mapping capability. The Mapsend maps are optional and must be purchased separately.

Beyond the 400, it is mostly a matter of features with additional waypoints, memory and so on, but as far as finding locations, all of the Explorists use the same technology.

I am looking to buy the Magellan eXplorist 400 recreational GPS receiver 98077104 for my husband who is an avid hunter. Is the Magellan MapSend software included with this product and would this be suitable for a hunter? Also, what is the difference between the explorist 300 and 400 and 500 and 600 models offered?
thanks!
