Have not had word from Celestron that there will be any replacement. No way to say for sure, of course, what the future will bring, but, if anything, the first thing to be upgraded is the software and that is something you can always do through the Celestron website, anyway. I do expect to see an EDG optics option, too, much as Meade offers an ACF option on their SCTs, though, again, just guessing and that is not something that you can retrofit and it will definitely add to the cost, too. Still, the current CPC is a great scope and one I am not afraid to recommend, as is.

I am considering purchasing the Celestron CPC 800. However, that scope has been in production for at least 5 years without any updates by the manufacture to that line of telescopes. Should I be concerned about purchasing a scope that most likely will be phased out maybe sometime soon? In fact, are you aware of any plans by Celestron to re-place the CPC line? If so, what innovations might be coming out in the next year or so?
Curious to get your thoughts.
