Hi Mike

Lots of articles I've written on our website to help, but for that money you could get a 5 " reflector, such as the Celestron 130 EQ or 90mm refractor, such as the Celestron Astromaster 90EQ and still have enough left for some telescope accessories.

I am new to this and I have 400 to play witb. I want to look at planets and stars the moon and go from there . I look online and there so many different kinds. I live in new England and its pretty dark where I live and I would bring this camping with me as well. So any input would be very helpful .
