Buying a telescope

Post by camaroguy92 on Wed Nov 14, 2012 9:02 pm

I'm going to be in the market for buying a telescope. price range is around $500-600. First things, I do plan on looking at planets, stars and everything in between. I am kind of keen to the GOTO just because I have no idea where planets are at in the sky, not that I couldn't learn where they are, just easy to tell it to find Saturn. I'm not positive what kind of scope I should be looking for in the first place. I did try looking into a club, but I could not find any that are near me, closest being around 2 hr drive. I don't know what constitutes being in a low or high light pollution area.there are a few street lights on the road in front of my house, but from my back porch I can look at the sky and see stars fairly clear. I can see one that is changing color all the time, white/blue/red/green. seems to flash the diff colors all the time. And no it's not a plane or helicopter haha. I've been doing some research and these are the ones I've come up with that seem to fit my needs the best. So yea, here is a list of the 4 that I have found that I think would be the option for me. Please let me know what you think and if there is another option for me to look into instead and thank you.
