In power a 10mm eyepiece would be a good choice.

Additional eyepiece for Celestron Firstscope

We’re purchasing a Celestron Firstscope for our son as a beginner telescope. The telescope comes with two eyepieces (Celestron 4 mm and 20 mm). From what I’ve seen of online reviews, these eyepieces are average quality.

I’d like to purchase an additional eyepiece so that he will have 3 eyepieces. We’ve got about $20 to give for the eyepiece. I am considering a 10mm Plossl 1.25" Telescope Eyepiece (made by Twinstar) that costs $20. My thought is that this size would give him something in between the other two in terms of magnification and hopefully at least one eyepiece that is better quality.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good choice for an additional eyepiece for this telescope? If not, would you have a different recommendation in this price range? I’ve wondered about a Barlow lens, but am not sure it’s worth it for such an inexpensive telescope (might be better off paying more to get a bigger scope in the first place).

Thank you for any advice you can give!
