Hi

You are correct. Gold Ring Leupolds are assembled in the US, but possibly with imported lenses. All Green Ring/Wind River scopes are imported.Currently no such thing as a $350 scope made in here. Sorry.

I wish it were true, but it is not. As far as I can tell, only the gold ring scopes are made in the USA. I am probably going to go with an "anyplace but China" buying strategy unless I find something I can verify as US somewhere under $350...

Hi

As with binoculars, the days of a spotting scope, actually made right here in the US - not just assembled in the US - are almost over and, in fact, there were never a lot of spotting scopes made in the US. The only commonly available spotting scopes I know of that are made in the US, right now, are the Televues, such as the TV-60, TV-76 and TV-85. Superb products, I assure you, since I am a Televue owner, myself, but, yes they are expensive.

Otherwise, as a general guideline, most scopes under about $700 are made in China or Korea. You begin to see made in Japan at about $800 and up. European scopes are even more expensive. Keep in mind, too, that in that mid-price range, you cannot go by brand as to country of origin. Bushnell, Vortex and even Nikon make scopes in China and Japan. Price is your best guide.

I was just wondering if any scopes are made here.
