Yes, They are offering a promotion at this time. Once Ray-Ban adopts this program officially we will be offering them as well!

Pretty lat to this. Just got new prescription Ray-Bans from Lens Crafters. I did have to ask for them to be made by RB. Better lens than Lens Crafters makes. Has the logo plus a P after it for prescription assume. I paid the extra $40 or so (progressive lens) because other replacement lenses are never quite as dark.

Hello,

Because the prescription lenses are not Ray-Ban lenses we would not be able to label them as such. That is misrepresentation.

I hope that helps.

That is correct! Ray-Ban currently does not offer a nationwide prescription program that is used by all optical locations. But like the representative stated to you; not all retailers will use their lab since, and this can be because they are only running this program in select locations for testing purposes. We do however use the largest lab in Illinois that is permitted to use Ray-Ban colors to make lenses. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and we love to work with them to get you what you need until Ray-Ban decides to release a nationwide prescription program.

I hope this was of some help to you.

Happy shopping!

I e-mailed them about this and got a reply:

Thanks for the email. We appreciate your support of Ray-Ban. We do not allow any of our retailers to etch a lens with Ray-Ban. All lenses that are put in by our prescription labs will come with the Ray-Ban logo, and no other lens will have the ability to have that added. Not all of our retailers will use our labs unless they are specifically asked to (some do not have access to them at all from what I understand), so they will follow their own procedures. In reality, what you are looking for is something that we already do, it just has to be done by us on our lenses. I hope this explains things a bit for you. Thanks for your time.

If you have any additional questions for immediate assistance please contact customer care at 866 4RAYBAN.

Best Regards,

So what I think I'm understanding here is, if I buy a pair of RB prescription sunglasses, but I want the logo and etching on them, then I have to send them to Ray-Ban so they can do it at their labs? @_@ That's what he said right?

G-15 is not available in polarized form. Polarized gray are generic lenses that most of the labs use. The color will be similar to Ray-Ban polarized gray lenses.

I think I'll go with the Wayfarer.

Do you think polarized is worth the extra $48? With polarized it looks like I would have to go with grey, rather than G15, right? If so, is the polarized grey similar to the grey in other Ray Ban sunglasses?

It depends on what you like 8) As I have mentioned earlier we have made rx lenses for Wayfarer glasses in High Index 1.67 for patients with similar prescription before and they were satisfied with their purchase of prescription sunglasses. But if you would like to explore some other options, take a look at

Ray-Ban prescription RB3301
or
Ray Ban prescription sunglasses RB 3194

See if you like any of these frames better.

Polarized High Index 1.67 lenses are available in single vision form.

Also, is it possible to get a polarized version of the 1.67 lenses?

Thanks, Liz. Before I do this, do you think it would be better for someone with my prescription to abandon the dream of Wayfarers and choose a smaller frame that will avoid the thicker lens edges? If so, are there styles you recommend?

Hi txw,

The G-15 lens blank in High Index 1.67 is very similar to Ray-Ban G-15. With the High Index 1.67 the lens will still slightly stick out as your prescription is little bit high. But the lens portion that sticks out will be inside of the frame. So cosmetically it should look fine. We have done High Index lenses in similar Rx for this frame before and it worked out very well.

Hi Liz,
I received the sunglasses and decided the size 52 looks small on me. I stopped by the mall and tried the size 55 version and that looks great. So, that brings me back to my the issue of my prescription. Will you let me know if the following prescription will result in lenses that are too thick (extend beyond the frame) with the size 55 New Wayfarers? I plan to get high index 1.67 lenses.

R: -4.25 -1.00 015
L: -5.75 -1.25 160
PD: 64

Also, I just want to double check that the lab you use can closely match the Ray Ban G15 color and darkness on the high index 1.67 lenses. Sorry to obsess over this, I just want to be sure before committing the $s.

It is going out of our warehouse today. You should receive an e-mail with the tracking number within next 12 hours. The package will probably be in transit for 2-3 business days as you chose UPS Ground. Once you get the tracking number you can check when the delivery is scheduled.

It's order #782235.

No problem. That's a good idea, especially if you have never tried on this model before. That's what a lot of people do before buying prescription sunglasses as a matter of fact. If you would like to, you can give me your order number and I will check the status.

Thanks again, Liz. I ordered the non-prescription version to make sure they fit and look good before ordering the prescription version. I tried some on in a store a year or two ago and liked them, but I want to be sure. For only $87 I might keep the pair of non-prescriptions for days when I wear contacts!
