SL,

Thanks for the post. Ultra High Index comes with AR coating, anti-scratch and UV coating by default. The lenses of the 1.74 must be clear and cannot be tinted.

I hope this helps. Call me when you are ready to place an order at 1-800-504-5897 ext 320. I will help you personally!

Hi Larum

Can you please confirm that if I were to order Ray Ban RX8633 frames with prescription High Index 1.74 lenses, the lenses will include AR, UV protection and anti-scratch coatings without the need to pay extra for them? This is not clear in the ordering process and I saw your earlier post from April but wanted to know if it still applied today.

Thanks

DTH,

You are correct. Ultra High Index comes with AR coating, anti-scratch and UV coating by default.

Let me know if we can help you further.

Hi,

Does this mean when ordering the Ultra High 1.74 lenses, the UV and AR options are unnecessary?

Thanks

Thank you for the post!

Both materials reference the thickness of the lens.

High Index 1.60 lenses are thinner & lighter than CR-39, polycarbonate or glass. Recommended sphere range is -/+ 4.00 through -/+ 6.00.
High Index 1.67 lenses are thinner than High Index 1.60, polycarbonate, CR-39 or glass. Recommended sphere range over -/+ 6.00.
Ultra High Index 1.74 is the thinnest & lightest plastic material. AR coating is included, recommended sphere range is 0.00 through -/+ 18.00

There are so many variables, a lot of this depends on frame style, size and your prescription. Each lens materials has the same properties as polycarbonate so anti-scratch is included and they block UV rays. AR (non-glare) coating would need to be ordered extra for most lenses except 1.74.

Give us a call at 1-800-504-5897 option 5 if you have any other questions. We are here to help!

Need Help On Lens Choice

Hello I want to purchase a pair of Ray-Ban RX8601 but not sure about what type of lens I should get. What are the differences between high index 1.60 and 1.67? Are there any other better choices not listed? I would like to get anti-reflection, uv block, and anti-scratch coatings.

My lens prescription:
OD: Spherical +4.00, Cylindrical -5.00, Axis 178
OS: Spherical +3.00, Cylindrical -4.00, Axis 172
