Hi

Yes, that will certainly work for astrophotography, but in astrophotography you won't be using the lens, only the body. By all means get the lens for other applications, though.

I've heard that the Canon Digital Rebel XT is a good camera. Currently there is the bundle including the Canon 18-55 mm EF-S lens with it. Would this be a decent camera to start with?
