The Pinnacle tube is the part du jour these days, and is becoming a standard that is hard to beat. Some companies state that it is impervious to degradation by exposure to light. Not completely true, but it is the most resistant so far, and for that reason, the best choice. The picture is excellent. Remember, night vision is for seeing in the dark, not to see FAR in the dark.

Hi Steve, thank you for the explanation and I had already considered the line pairs per mm distinction that you noted, however both the 3rd Gen 441 and the 3rd Gen 740/760 list 64 lpm as a rating. I do not have any access to test either of these units, and approximately $4,000 is what I have to spend on a weapon sight. You carry both, as well as the ANT Mars series, what would you recommend and why when you have a chance. Thank you for your help Steve.

The 740/760 have Pinnacle tubes which are less susceptable to light damage, and are preferred. Detection range has to be taken with a grain of salt, and no light figures are available to standardize the testing. Consumers cannot measure available light, and different companies measure differently. Checking resolution (lpm) is a more accurate way of measuring performance, then other criteriaj such as size and price.

I am trying to figure out which one of these 2 weapon sights is the better unit. I can't find any rating anywhere for detection range/recognition range for the 441, and the Morovision 760 Gen 3 only lists 475 meters/400 meters for detection/recognition. This doesn't seem very far to me considering these things cost thousands of dollars.

Are these ratings taken with only starlight or 1/4 moon or something? Any advice will be much appreciated.
